Eagle Rock Map

Location: Bordered by the 134 and 2. Between Glendale and Pasadena and North of Highland Park, Silver Lake and Downtown

Summary: Eagle Rocks. Great homes, lots of eateries, bars, thriving small businesses AND a Target! Median home prices start at the high $300k.

Eagle Rock (Los Angeles, 90041) is awesome. If I didn’t live in Glendale, I’d live in Eagle Rock. With pretty established Latino and Filipino communities, this neighborhood not only has some of the best restaurants, but also great ethnic markets to pick up my fish sauce and Chinese sausage, trendy bars, a nice mix of every home style.

Up until a few years ago when it closed, my favorite bar in LA, The Chalet, was in Eagle Rock. My favorite brunch spot is Camilo’s on Colorado–they make a mean breakfast burrito and have fabulous coffee. My favorite French is Café Beaujolais. On Sundays, we usually go to “Lazy Sunday’s Wine Tasting” at the Colorado Wine Co. When I want a snack, I go to Spitz for an awesome wrap. If I need to do some work, I head over to Swork. Need a new outfit for date night? Head to Owl Talk and talk to Kathy or Sharon—they’ll hook you up. Dance lessons for an upcoming wedding? There’s no one better than Anthony at Ballroom Blitz—he’ll keep you laughing while teaching you to tango. Eagle Rock even has their own Trader Joe’s!

So what I’m trying to say, in all seriousness, is that Eagle Rocks. Though compact, it’s teeming with vibrant, small businesses and great residents who support them. It has an authentic vibe, isn’t pretentious and is growing fast. Median home prices in Eagle Rock are the highest compared to the other 3 hoods in Northeast LA (Highland Park, Mt. Washington, Glassell Park). While you’re paying for a great house, you’re really paying to be a part of the biggest, brightest little town in LA.
